Jonathan E. McCoy may very well be our next President. At only 11 years old, Jonathan has already given speeches in various churches and radio shows! And he spreads a good message, to get rid of the ‘N’ word.
Jonathan is a bright child who maintains a high GPA and has received a plethora of awards, citations, and acknowledgments for his academic achievements. He was very influenced by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and was drawn to his commitment to justice for all. With his smarts and wit he used petitioning as a form of influencing people.
His first act of petitioning apparently involved hand washing. While in the second grade, says his Facebook profile, Jonathan asked his fellow classmates to sign a petition that would allow students the choice to opt out of the school’s enforced hand sanitizer policy and instead wash their hands with soap and water. When his teacher found out about the petition, she settled the request in the children’s favor.
After his first victory, Jonathan realized this gift can be used for a greater good so he decided to speak his mind again in front of 1500 people at Empowerment Temple in Baltimore saying:
“I’m sending a message to everyone who knowingly or ignorantly uses this word to describe our people, whether you’re a gangster rapper who uses it to communicate with your boys, or someone who looks down on us who haven’t got a college education,” said the pint-sized orator. “Whatever the case, it’s time to discontinue the use of this word. It is implausible that 40 years after the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., we still use this word that holds no worth in our lives nor our future.”
You can see this speech below. Spread this video around and help get his message out!

Seems like everyone is getting into the FUCK YOU spirit. I think Lilly Allen might have created the first gay anthem.

So to celebrate, Vermont based Ben and Jerry’s have decided to change the name of their “Chubby Hubby” ice cream to “Hubby Hubby“! They have also teamed up with Freedom To Marry in an effort to promote marriage equality and raise nationwide support for the freedom to marry.
According to Ben and Jerry’s press release the say it “aims to raise awareness of the importance of marriage equality and to encourage other states to follow the blazing trails of Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Iowa, and Maine.”

The ban on homosexuality in India might be repealed! An exciting time for the gay citizens of India considering it has been around for almost 150 years.
Section 377 of the Indian Penal Code – making sex “against nature” punishable by up to ten years in prison was introduced by the British and has recently been causing a stir with the Indian community. Seems one of the few professed liberal democracies also has the most conservative citizens. Other countries that have a similar ban are mostly Islamic or authoritarian, and even China lifted its ban in 1997.
Kudos to India for finally standing up for there rights! Now if we can only get California to follow in their footsteps…

According to CNN, surveillance cameras catch police pulling up to Ronnie Holloway outside a restaurant and according to Mr. Holloway, the lady officer asks him to zip up his jacket then proceed to beat him senseless. Holloway is schizophrenic and his lawyer states he is “mentally challenged on multiple levels.” Police are saying that he resisted arrest, was acting disorderly and wandering for the purpose of obtaining controlled dangerous substances, so with all that why not beat him senseless right? I mean he’s all acting disorderly, didn’t zip up his jacket (what a barbarian) and had no drugs on him, that dude deserves a good beating! Right?
This is one of the weirdest ways I have seen people defend there civil rights, not only does he start babbling about his kingdom, he then gets tasered by the police and gets away!

I drove home from a bar, it was 3am, I was dropping off my friends who were slightly drunk so I was there designated driver. I dropped them off, headed home and suddenly I see those wonderful flashing blue lights. I wasn’t drunk so I wasn’t really worried, more annoyed because I didn’t do anything wrong, I wasn’t speeding, obeyed all traffic signals so really I shouldn’t have been pulled over in the first place.
I was very polite to him, gave him my license and registration and asked him what I did wrong, not responding he asked me if I have been drinking, which of course I said no. He didn’t believe me, instead he made me get out of the car and walk a straight line, still not telling me what I did wrong. I get out of my car, walk the line and wait for him to say something, he tells me to wait while he checks my license. I wait outside, still tired, annoyed and cold. He stays in his car for about 30 minutes then comes back and tells me to have a nice night. So what was the point of that? No one was on the road, I wasn’t drunk, and wasn’t speeding. OK not as bad as this this story but still, what was the point?
So what do you do when cops harass you? Did you know cops aren’t allowed to search our cars? There are many videos out there that show clear signs of cops breaking the law, and if we don’t enforce our rights it could happen to us:
Cops shouldn’t make you feel terrified, I always tried to view them as protectors of citizens, protecting us from terrorism and such:
Now I am not saying all cops are bad, there are good cops out there, I know, I’m just saying we need to be aware of our basic human rights to live in peace and prosperity. There are many websites out there like ACLU (American Civil Liberties Union) and Flex Your Rights, who have plenty of info on our basic civil rights.
Here’s a pretty good video on the basics of getting pulled over:
Remember to always have a camera so you have proof, and don’t be afraid to show people what you have witnessed. Everything you can do can help prevent incidents like the one that happened to Ryan Moats, a running back for the Houston Texans, who was on his way to see his dying mother and got pulled over for running a red light. The officer didn’t let him leave, even after his mother died. You can see the footage here:

PART 2
If we all pull together and fight back, maybe we can stop situations like this from happening again. If you have any other stories you would like to share on my site, please e-mail me at thestatusquoblog@gmail.com. Don’t be afraid to let people know if you have witnessed any harassment and let your local sheriff know your story.
