Mayor of Wellford Hates Police Chases
November 4, 2009, 2:35 PM

The Mayor of Wellford, Sallie Peake decided to make crime a little bit easier on criminals by banning police officers from chasing suspects. The memo came out on September 2, 2009 with only two sentences saying:

“As of this date, there are to be no more foot chases when a suspect runs. I do not want anyone chasing after any suspects whatsoever.“

Seems like the city of Wellford elected a winner. The apparent reason for this memo is because several officers have been injured during chases which was driving up insurance costs for the town.

Reporter Chris Cato from the Channel 7 local news had the chance to interview this brilliant lady:

Reporter: “Are you telling your officers if they witness a crime – they witness someone commit a crime on someone else and they’re ten yards away – they can’t go stop that person?“
Peake: “Is that in there?“ (referring to policy)
Reporter: “It says no chases whatsoever.“
Peake:
“Well, that’s what I said, no chases, didn’t I? I didn’t say nothing about a crime. If you see a crime, this that and the other -“
Reporter: “Well, that’s what a chase is – “
Peake: “Well, I told them no chase on foot, and (the police chief) know exactly what I mean, so you’re trying to twist what I -“
Reporter: “No, I’m not. You said no chases. No chases means no chases.“
Peake: (claps hands) “You got you a story, thank God! You are so sweet! You got you a story on a woman in Wellford! Hallelujah! I’m so proud of you, Mr. Cato!“

Baby Survives Getting Run Over By A Train
October 24, 2009, 5:28 AM
Filed under: Mervatron, News, Random | Tags: , , ,

After you watch this video you are not going to believe that this six-month-old baby came out of this with only a bump on his head.

This is truly remarkable, I can’t believe it! But it’s really true. This happened over in Melbourne, Australia, the three-wheel pram rolled off the railway platform into the path of a 250 ton train!

FROM THE AUSTRALIAN NEWS:

The extraordinary CCTV footage shows the pram and baby being dragged 30 meters as the distraught mother screams at the driver to stop and stunned commuters look on.

Yet remarkably, once ambulance officers were able to retrieve the child, they found him virtually unharmed. “Apparently, he needed a nap and a feed,” quipped intensive care paramedic Jon Wright.

Amazing, hopefully the mom learns her lesson, or she could spin this off as a balloon boy story, except this story is actually real.

Meghan McCain recently posted a picture of her ‘hanging out’ on her twitpics and it is already causing some controversy.

I don’t see the big deal? I mean, what do people have to complain about? She looks good to me. Well people are getting so frustrated with it that she took it down and tweeted this:

when I am alone in my apartment, I wear tank tops and sweat pants, I had no idea this makes me a “slut”, I can’t even tell you how hurt I am

and this also:

ok I am getting the fuck off twitter, promise not to delete my account until I sleep on it, thank you for the nice words supporters

Well Ms. McCain, I won’t complain about a nice cleavage! In fact, post more please! Fortunately, my voice was strong and she decided not to shut down her Twitter account. YAY! :)

Meet Ruth Frith from Australia, she is 100 years old and she just broke a world record in shot put. Incredible! OK, so she wasn’t really competing against anybody since she was the only person in the over-100 category, but still, being a hundred and still living is an achievement on its own.

She attended the World Masters Games in Sydney last Sunday and competed in javelin and hammer throw and the shot put throw. She threw the shot put a total of 4.07 meters, or 13 feet, 4 inches which gave her first place in the competition.

From Back Porch:

Ruth Frith said she entered the competition confident she’d be the best of the bunch in the 100-and-over age group: “As long as I didn’t foul I was going to win it,” Frith said.

Frith said her advice to people who want to live a long life is, “I just think each year is another year. You just enjoy each day, and let the years go by.” She adds, “Don’t eat vegetables, because I never eat vegetables. I never have.”

Good advice, I will never eat veggies again. She also lifts weights regularly and has been competing in this event since she was 74. What are her future plans? Well she says she has no plans to retire, and she’s hoping to compete in the next World Masters Games, in 2013. Good luck Frith!

This is the flag of the Benin Empire, a pre-colonial African state of modern Nigeria that lasted from 1440-1897. I must say, If I had to choose a flag to represent my country it would probably look like this one.

UK MoD Leaks ‘How to Stop Leaks’ Guide

FAIL

Seems irony is playing a big part in the UK. The Ministry of Defence released a ‘How to Stop Leaks’ guide that has been leaked to the public.

In this three volume, 2,389 page book you can find great information on dealing with leaks, investigative journalists, terrorists & criminals, sexual entrapments in Russia and China, classified documents & codewords, compromising radio and audio emissions, and computer hackers.

UK might want to go back and give this one another try. You can read the full ‘RESTRICTED’ version on Wikileaks.

John Derbyshire Says Women Shouldn’t Vote
October 2, 2009, 11:32 AM

John Derbyshire, who is a columnist for the National Review and a conservative author recently wrote a book called We Are Doomed: Reclaiming Conservative Pessimism. In this book, there is a section entitled “The Case Against Female Suffrage.” Prepare to get angry ladies…

Radio host Alan Colmes recently had an interview with Mr. Derbyshire questioning that specific section of his book.

From Think Progress:

“What is the case against female suffrage?” Colmes asked. “The conservative case against it is that women lean hard to the left,” Derbyshire responded nonsensically. “They want someone to nurture, they want someone to help raise their kids, and if men aren’t inclined to do it — and in the present days, they’re not much — then they’d like the state to do it for them.”

Colmes then pressed Derbyshire on whether women should have the right to vote. “Ah…” Derbyshire sighed, attempting to dodge the question initially. “I’m not putting forward a political program here,” he said. But then Derbyshire slowly began to open up:

DERBYSHIRE: Among the hopes that I do not realistically nurse is the hope that female suffrage will be repealed. But I’ll say this – if it were to be, I wouldn’t lose a minute’s sleep.

COLMES: We’d be a better country if women didn’t vote?

DERBYSHIRE: Probably. Don’t you think so?

COLMES: No, I do not think so whatsoever.

DERBYSHIRE: Come on Alan. Come clean here [laughing].

COLMES: We would be a better country? John Derbyshire making the statement, we would be a better country if women did not vote.

DERBYSHIRE: Yeah, probably.

Wow John, just wow. I bet you are single or if not I bet you are now. You can hear the whole interview HERE.
